Education Programs
The Tennessee Aquarium’s Education Department offers a variety of programs for your school group to ensure that students not only have an exciting visit, but an educational one as well. Our programs are designed for a variety of grade levels and schedule needs. Click on the links below to see a full description of each programs.
Education programs are available from September through May, Mondays through Fridays.
Classroom Programs, Lunch & Learn and Auditorium Programs are FREE for school groups visiting the Tennessee Aquarium, IMAX 3D Theater or River Gorge Explorer. These free programs are limited to one per school group but additional programs may be scheduled for $3 per student.
Classroom Programs:
Classroom Programs last 45 minutes and may be scheduled at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Students will be taught in the Discovery Classroom, Biology Lab and/or Think Tank. These classroom will be assigned to best meet the size and schedule of your group. Total accommodation for all three classrooms is 86 students and 9 chaperones. |

Auditorium Programs:
Auditorium Programs last 45 minutes and may be scheduled at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. The auditorium can accommodate 185 people. The auditorium is located on the A level of the River Journey building. |

Lunch & Learn Programs:
Lunch and Learn Programs last 45 minutes and may be scheduled at 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. Lunch & Learn Programs are a great option for a tight schedule since it combines lunch time with an educational learning experience. Students will be taught in the Discovery Classroom, Biology Lab and/or Think Tank. These classroom(s) will be assigned to best meet the size and schedule of your group. Total accommodation for all three classrooms is 86 students and 9 chaperones. |

3 Things to know about Lunch and Learn Programs: - You may bring your own lunches or purchase lunches from the Aquarium ($4.50 each). All purchased lunches must be ordered in advance through group reservations.
- Depending on the size of your group, the reserved classrooms may be located in different buildings. The Biology lab and Think Tank are located in the IMAX building and the Discovery Classroom is located in River Journey. Please pack lunches according to classroom assignments.
- If bringing lunches, please pack lunches according to classroom assignments. Lunches may be stored on the buses and brought to the appropriate classrooms in time for the program to start. Have boxes and coolers marked clearly with the school name, teacher name and classroom assignment.
